Video I Have Done About The Internet

This is a video i have done about the internet in a computer class last year at AUD. Thought of sharing it with everyone to show you the advantages of the internet breifly. Internet has changed our lives and we all know that, and has made the world interconnected. The Information Age we live in is happening due to the internet too. "The Internet will change how people live, work, play and learn. The Industrial Revolution brought people together with machines in factories, and the Internet revolution will bring together people with knowledge and information in virtual communities. And it will have every bit as much impact on society as the Industrial Revolution. It will promote globalization at an incredible pace. But instead of happening over 100 years, like the Industrial Revolution, it will happen over 100 years."
ADVANTAGES Of The Internet
  • Email. Email is now an essential communication tools in business. It is also excellent for keeping in touch with family and friends. The advantages to email is that it is free ( no charge per use) when compared to telephone, fax and postal services.
  • Information.
  • There is a huge amount of information available on the internet for just about every subject known to man, ranging from government law and services, trade fairs and conferences, market information, new ideas and technical support.
  • Services. Many services are now provided on the internet such as online banking, job seeking and applications, and hotel reservations. Often these services are not available off-line or cost more.
  • Buy or sell products. The internet is a very effective way to buy and sell products all over the world.
  • Communities. Communities of all types have sprung up on the internet. Its a great way to meet up with people of similar interest and discuss common issues.

I can never imagine our lives without the internet. We are completely reliant on it and have access to it every single day.

The Future Of Technology

FUNNY VIDEO

Since most of my blog posts have been serious and course related i decided to share this video called The Future Technology. Its kinda funny, and it seems like it has some kind of point it is trying to reach. The way i see it shows that it has a message to send out. So the discussion is if technology keeps updating every while and then and experiencing exponential growth then decline, it means this cycle will continue towards the future. Old technologies will go obsolete everytime a new innovation is created.  One of the most interesting things about technology is that you can never be quite sure where it will go. Yes, we expect computers to get faster and software to get more powerful, but how they would look like in 50 years is surely unpredictable. The Internet is a great example of this—it was around for a long time, but no one predicted how widespread it would get, or how quickly people would adapt to it and share their knowledge by using it as well as send messages where distance and time are not problems anymore.
Lets Wait And See.... It's Kind Of Scary Isnt It?

Example Of A PR Agency

JAG PRESS & PUBLICITY
This is an example of a PR agency. The video explains what type of services the agency provides. This PR agency provides a managed communication between a client and the public for a fee. It tries to help and improve the public image of the client by using many different strategies. It also describes what type of campaigns using what media they will offer. So they find the appropriate medium to deliver the messages and report the results of the effectiveness of the campaign. They develop strategies and implement them for the best results. They also talk about crisis management in which they could help improve the image of the client and limit the negative reputation. They also say that by using the 7 point crisis plan they can guarantee the success of limiting the negative consequences a client is facing. They also use social media to support clients.

Persuasive Advertisements

PEPSI COMMERCIAL
This is the Diet Pepsi TV commercial advertisement that uses two famous celebrtities Sofia Vergara and David Beckham.

Using celebrities in ads is a basic strategy for constructing persuasive messages and attracting the audience to consume the product. Featuring celebrities in advertisments has been a successful strategy used by advertisers since a long time. Such strategy is refered as a Sociocultural strategy that calls the audience's attention to a cultural requirement and urges the purchase of a particular product or try to persuade people to conform. So when we view or get exposed to these ads we get persuaded faster assuming that if we acquire that certain product, for example, we could be like that prestigious person. It is quiet expesive to get a celebrity endorsement, but bringing celebrities into an ad yeilds stronger ties between the viewers and causes greater sales for the product.

Al Jazeera Blamed...

AL JAZEERA TODAY

Every channel has its own encoding strategy and these encoding strategies can differ from one organization to another. Emphasizing certain news stories and selecting certain stories is one of these strategies. Another encoding strategy would be the journalistic style perferred by a particular news organization. Al Jazeera organize their daily agenda by focusing on one side of a story. They have been blamed for being too sensational and eroding the truth of a news story especially rescently due to the uprisings taking place in the Middle-East. They have been suspected of lacking objectivity in their news stories and broadcasting biased news. Many people have been criticizing the way they are reporting and covering the events. They have also been blamed of dessiminating any news they receive before making sure if it is true or not. Many employees at the organization resigned because of the lack of truthfulness in the channel and the bias in their dessimination as they say.
AL JAZEERA has a goal behind the strategies they follow, but one of these goals many are arguing could be capturing and holding the attention of the audience through this way.

Media bias: refers to the bias of journalists and news producers within the mass media in the selection of events and stories that are reported and how they are covered.

Television Can Have It's Negative Effects

 Television: The Most Influential Medium
We have always been proud of TV as being the most entertaining medium available at our homes. Although it has many positive effects in our life it has negative effects on us individuals. The negative effects of Tv are huge. The time we spend watching Tv can be the time we can spend doing something much more important in our daily lives, such as activities, studying, socializing, exercising or learning. The violence displayed on Tv can also have a negative effect on our lives as we encode them by watching anything displayed on TV. Television is a powerful teacher and especially for children because if children are always viewing their favorite characters using violence or aggression to get what they want, children will do the same. Tv is also making us fat becase of the time we spend sitting on the sofa and not moving anywhere else. Moreover Tv is making us materialistic due to all the advertisement commercials displayed we start demanding products more than we would actually want.

Advice :
Although TV is really important in our life and we cannot live without it and we use it for watching the news, our favorite shows, programs, movies and everything else, we need to limit the amount of time we spend on TV because it can have negative effects on us individuals and on children specifically and it could influence us all in general it could be good sometimes or it could be bad.

Charlie Chaplin & Silent Film Era

Charlie Chaplin(16 April 1889 – 25 December 1977) was an English comic actor that had the most successful films back in the days during the silent film era. He continued his way through the talkies era too. He is said to be a comedy and cinema legend as well as a great entertainer for the audience watching. He was creative and influentianal at the same time. In the early 1900's he had a huge impact on the lives of Americans also during the world wars and the hard times of the Depression. He made people laugh and changed the way they looked at the world despite his own troubles. And even though his films were in black and white, he put a lot of color into everyone's life. For his films, he used popular songs of the day along with great pieces of classical music along with music he composed by himself.

Citizen Journalism

Citizen Journalism:
It is a term that refers to the public being the active members in the making of news stories. Individuals are basically without professional training they are normal citizens that dessiminate news with the use of modern communication technology. Citizen journalism has been flourishing at a higher rate in the Arab world due to the uprisings. People are uploading their own videos and news on blogs or are interacting with specific TV channels websites Other than uploading content through the website, user media content can also be sent via email or directly from their mobiles of what currently is happening; therefore, giving the world a different taste of how life is in their region than the mainstream publications are providing. Certain videos are then edited by the Tv Channel then broadcasted to the large audience around the world. Citizen journalism has gave people the chance of expressing the real situations though which they are going through, and have played a major role lately in the Arab region.

Newspapers Vs. News In A Digital Era

OLD Vs.NEW
Since we have reached chapter 4 which discusses newspapers, I thought about uploading a video related to the topic of the chapter. Newspapers, as we predicted about books, are also facing a threat of whether or not they will still exist in the future. The digital revolution has been troubling for the newspaper industry. Newspapers have existed for quiet a long time, but now the Internet has also been taking over their work. By having special websites offering subscriptions for viewing the daily news, the newspaper's usage has declined. We are able to follow up on fresh information by accessing the Internet in a click of a button. Although there are many advantages of newspapers, but they are still impossible to update if any mistake in disseminating a news has already been printed out and sent to society. Since we are not sure of what the future holds we still cannot be sure if they will still exist in the future or not, especially when many people are used to their usage. The Internet now provides a constant, ever-changing source of information and entertainment for everyone!

The Digital Future Of Books.

Ibook On Ipad
Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc, intoducing the new application on ipad called the ibook, and explaining how it is used and how simple it could be be to download ebooks right on our ipad. He also discusses the advantages of the innovation. The "book shelf" in the application organizes and shows the books downloaded. By a direct click on the book we can sit, read and tap on the screen to flip the pages. The font can be also edited for people that have difficulties with printed books that have small fonts. It is certainly a great online bookstore, and the advantages of ebooks seem to exceed the disadvantages of it in one way or another. With a tap we are able to save time and power of actually driving to a book store to buy a book.  For many people they still prefer the use of traditional books because they require no batteries or power supply, no complex software, and no period of waiting until a machine warms up. In my opinion i think this is a great technology, but im still not sure if traditional books will cease to exist in the future.

The Doctors TV show & How Useful It Could Be

The Doctors Tv show is one of my best TV programs and i certainly think it is a very advanced way of communicating about medical issues with large audience. The medical team use their knowledge and years of experience to educate viewers and provide valuable resources.Certain experiments and activities  usually encourages the audience to follow up with every episode of the show. It unfortunately helps, and provides us with medical information that we used to lack in the past.  This show really helps people and provides awareness to certain medical issues we may not have realized. It can be symptoms or any other medical problems we may need to pay attention to. I advise my colleagues at university to always follow this show because it could be very helpful for their own knowledge.

Her milkshake will bring all the boys to the yard!

World's Famous Milkshake Bar Opening In The Dubai Mall In Association With Emirates Hospitality.

Kim Kardashian, famous with her US reality TV show, will be introducing the grand opening of "Millions Of Milkshakes" this 14th October 2011 in Dubai Mall. Millions of Milkshakes is the most famous family milkshake bar in the states, and unfortunately this will be the first franchise opening outside the states. What brought my attention is how smart it could be to get the most attractive of them all,Kim, to be the one responsible for the grand opening. I guarantee that Dubai Mall will be completely crowded at this day with guys wanting to taste the milkshake from Kim's own hands, and i am sure of the great success that will come ahead of this brilliant idea of the opening.
"I am excited to be working with millions of milkshakes and Emirates Hospitality to launch my very own signature in the Middle East and i can't wait to introduce it to my fans in the U.A.E". says US reality TV star Kim Kardashian.

Blackberry & Its Effects On People( Hilarious Video!!)

This video really made my day!. It completely demonstrates how most of the people here in dubai are affected by the use of blackberry. This technology has a lot of affects on individuals and the society in many good ways and bad ways. It could be very benefecial for job matters, but as we said everything in life has its pros and cons. Blackberry has made almost everyone loose their concentration and focus on texting, especially when they are new users of this smartphone, they become extremely addicted to it. It is addictive, disruptive, and triggers anxiety  but eventually its fun to chat with friends all the time, but remember keep the limits!.

Deceptive Ads Are Annoying !

This is a full version video of a makeup brand called Maybelline. Many females are aware of this brand and commercial, as well as the purpose of it. It basically targets a special segment in society, which are females, about the new "Maybelline Mascara". What brings my attention is that this commercial is extremely deceptive in many ways and another. I mean the deception begins by bringing a model that is extremely beautiful, and therefore making us beleive we could look like her oneday by pursuading us to buy this useless mascara!. It's ridiculous because the eyelashes are unbeleivably fake!. I just dislike the idea how they try mislead us women by persuading us to buy cosmetics that give 30% result of what the advertisment really shows, and placing hot models to convince us we may have their looks oneday. It really raises ethical issues as well as comments of how deceptive some ad's can be most of the time!.
